Alyx is really the only 'story' game I got for VR rn, and I have a someone who wants to try vr, but I want it to be a rather immersive or a memorable first time for them, so I thought a story game would help get this effect. But they've never played a half life game (and I've never even played alyx lmao) could one still enjoy alyx without previous game knowledge?
Step 5 stream vr games through virtual desktop over your 5ghz Wi-Fi to quest and enjoy. If you want to skip on using virtual desktop you can just run a USB c cable to your computer and use Oculus link.
I'm happy people without VR sets are able to play this and I'm not hating on the devs for creating this but I dont think the game has the same effect on you without all the VR capabilities. You being in the game, actually controlling Alyx was a big reason for the game to be a good experience. Half-Life Alyx is probably the most immersive Half-Life game that ever existed. Not only can you interact with many objects just like in real life. You have to play with a VR headset to see everything in the game in 3D and feel like you are in the game. So there are some things that won't be as impactful if you haven't played the other games, but I would say that Half-Life: Alyx stands on its own and you don't have to have played the other games to enjoy it. TL;DR: No need to play all the other games, Half-Life: Alyx is 99% a stand alone game in the series and can be enjoyed by anyone.
